Welcome

Benjamin Beighle

Hello! I’m so glad you’re here. I believe that you were led here for a reason, so I want you to expect to receive something from the Lord, even in this welcome post.

First of all, I want you to know that I don’t have this whole thing planned out. I’m endeavoring to follow the Holy Spirit, which for me is usually one step at a time. That being said, I do have a sense of what’s to come. And I know that whatever the specific steps end up being, the end goal is the same… to make disciples of every nation.

So what does that really mean? To understand how we are to accomplish that mission, we have to first understand what a disciple is, and what it means to disciple someone.

A disciple is a follower. A student in life not just in a classroom. Jesus’ disciples weren’t just with him for an hour or two each weekday. They basically lived with him 24/7 for about 3 years. They saw Him. The way He talked, the way He acted, how He handled different situations, both those extraordinary ones we read about in the gospels and the ordinary, day to day, everyday life occurrences we all live out.

We must understand that to disciple means to live our life as an example. Not just within the church walls, but more importantly, outside the church walls. To teach both with our words and with our actions. In order to do this, we cannot be afraid to live our relationship with Christ out loud, and we must be sure we’re doing it for the right reasons… for His glory and honor. He’s given us all of Himself. How can we keep from loving Him with all we are?

Romans 12:1-2 (MSG)

“So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.”
